Wynnum Marine was selected by Yamaha to fit the first of the new Yamaha F70 outboard engines to arrive in Australia.
The new Yamaha F70 is a breakthrough mid-range outboard model. Tipping the scales at 118kgs, this engine is lighter than all four stroke and two stroke outboards of similar power. Moreover, the advanced 16-valve, single overhead camshaft 4-cylinder engine delivers best-in-class horsepower per cylinder.
When the first Yamaha F70 arrived at Yamaha HQ in Brisbane, Yamaha management decided to fit the F70 to the new CruiseCraft Explorer 485 model.
“It was appropriate that we were able to put two firsts together,” said Darren Nichols, Manager at Wynnum Marine.
“We had just taken delivery of the very first CruiseCraft Explorer 485 to come out of the CruiseCraft factory, and at the same time the very first Yamaha F70 in Australia landed on our doorstep.”
The outcome is a stunning combination. The performance of the Yamaha F70 and the feedback on the Explorer 485 proved that the combo was a winner.
So much so that Yamaha went on to use the rig from Wynnum Marine as the rig to showcase the new F70 outboard to the boating press and the official Yamaha F70 dealer launch.
“We couldn’t be happier with the outcome,” Darren Nichols said.
“The new F70 is a great engine and it’s ideally suited to not only the CruiseCraft 485 but many of the Stacer aluminium boats that we stock and sell at Wynnum Marine.”
Wynnum Marine is the Brisbane home of CruiseCraft boats. The dealership is the authorised dealer for CruiseCraft, Stacer and Gemini inflatables, plus Yamaha and Evinrude outboard engines.
